Trader Joe's hit the jackpot once again when their beloved Soyaki sauce hit the shelves. Customers loved it so much that they began making their own variations at home. Find out how you can make your copycat soyaki sauce, too!

Trader Joe's has been providing United States citizens with valuable food items, many of which are produced under the Trader Joe's label, since 1967. Among these items from the grocery chain is the delicious Asian-style sauce Soyaki.

Described as a "mainstay" in the Trader Joe's grocery aisle, Soyaki is not your typical teriyaki sauce. Packed with an array of flavors, from sweet to savory and spicy, Soyaki differs from traditional teriyaki sauce with Trader Joe's addition of sesame seeds.

You can enjoy it with various meats, including beef, shrimp, pork, and chicken. You can also cook it however you please, whether you like your meals baked, sauteed, grilled, or broiled. But if you feel like having a homemade version of this condiment, here are three easy Soyaki recipes for you to try. Happy cooking!

  • 1 stock of green onion
  • ½ tsp toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

1. Place all your ingredients into a blender or food processor and blend until thoroughly combined.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)
  • ¼ cup sake (Japanese rice wine)
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 green onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  3. Add the cornstarch slurry to the sauce mixture once the sugar is dissolved, and stir continuously to ensure no lumps remain.
  4. Continue cooking the sauce until it has your desired consistency.
  5. Once satisfied with the sauce consistency, remove it from the heat and leave it to cool to room temperature.
  6. Transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve. When that time comes, garnish your sauce with sesame seeds and finely chopped green onion.
